So, I just watched the most miserably, helplessly tragically sad, infuriatingly vague and mysterious Doctor Who episode ever. I teared up and was just about crying through the whole last half. And even though IT WAS THE ONE SINGLE EPISODE WHERE NODOBY DIED—even the imaginary people who never existed—it was definitely the saddest episode out of the forty-five or so I have seen to date. And now I feel all wound up and pensive and am not going to bed.
I FREAKING LOVE THIS TV SHOW.
Because, today, it made me cry. Any fictional creation that makes me cry when it's not three in the morning has done a good job. (Geez, David Tennant almost cried; that might have almost done me in even if it hadn't been a really sad episode.)
And, I figured out something before the Doctor did. He was trying to figure out this bit of alien logic like always, and I was like "Oh, oh, oh, it's_____!!" and then four seconds later he did that thing where his eyes get really big an he says in that quiet 'lightbulb" voice, "It's the_____..." and then freaks out. And I was like "OHMYGOSH I WAS RIGHT I feel so TimeLordgenius right now!" (I actually said this out loud and my mother laughed at me.) That kind of totally made my entire night.
(Well, it made it until the episode got really sad and maddeningly mysterious...but also mysterious in a potentially-conceivably-nice way. I love having all the answers and backstories and obscure details {probably the source of my Tolkienmania}, but just this once, I know enough to let it go. After all, I've got my own imagination, right?)
(Though, referring back to the second paragraph, the episode prior to this one involved a giant wasp who murdered people with a lead pipe. That was decidedly lacking in awesomeness. That was just absurd. And really gross. So...most of the time I love this TV show.)
That's a two-parter right? Have you seen the 2nd part as well? I feel like I need to rewatch that one. Especially since it has River Song in it. Geez I miss Tennant.
ReplyDeleteI agree, that is a very good one. The next few I personally really like, too. Just wait till Turn Left. Mwaha. There are a number of hour long special episodes after the season's end, too. One of those is incredibly intense, when he's on a Mars settlement, make sure you tell me what you think of that.
I love you and your love of the Doctor. We should watch them together sometime, because I am totally willing to rewatch any of them. =]
maybe when Hannah comes back, we could start out the first season with her..... Hmm.....
Yeah, I was mainly referring to the second part of the two-parter. It was so good. And Turn Left was soooo crazy. I was watching it and couldn't stop thinking, it's exactly like It's A Wonderful Life!
ReplyDeleteEeeeee, I'm halfway through the finale now and saving the last episode for later. The whole last half of this season is intense! I'm glad they have the specials on Netflix Instant.
I love you too! I really like the watching-it-together and possibly-watching-it-with Hannah thought. I would be up for rewatching any of them too (although I do still have quite a few yet to go). I also wound up skipping most of the Agatha Christie episode (sadness) because I wasn't sure if I was up to watching a giant wasp by myself.
:)
